THE HISTORY OF THE ROSY LOTUS
OF ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD
When Emperor Hadrian visited Alexandria,
the poet Pancrates presented him
with a beautiful lotus flower.
Awestruck by the magnificent rosy-red petals,
Hadrian agreed to name the flower
after his beloved Antinous.
